Privacy

LetMotion runs in your browser. The images and video you drop in are decoded in the tab and handed to your graphics card, and the finished file is encoded on your own machine. None of it is uploaded, and none of it reaches us — there is nowhere on our side for it to go.

While you are signed out, nothing whatsoever is recorded. No page views, no analytics, no advertising, and no third party watching you use it. Signing in, and paying if you choose to, are the only things here that contact a server at all.

Your project autosaves to IndexedDB in your own browser, along with the media you added to it. A few small preferences sit in local storage: the theme, which panels you have folded away, and what the export button is set to do. If you are signed in, the session token lives there too.

None of that is sent anywhere, and none of it is readable by us. It is also the only copy: clearing this site’s data deletes your projects along with everything else, so keep the exports you care about.

• Your email address. With a password, which is hashed by our authentication provider and never visible to us. If you sign in with Google instead, we ask Google for two things — your email address and your basic profile — and receive nothing else from your Google account.
• The timezone your browser reports when you sign up, such as Asia/Jakarta. It tells us roughly which countries people are in. Your IP address is never looked at and no location service is asked. Accounts created through Google arrive without one.
• One row each time you leave with something you made. Which template it came from, and the format, resolution, ratio, frame rate and number of repeats you chose. Nothing about the files themselves.
• A suggestion, if you write one. The message you typed and the template you had open when you sent it.
• Whether the account is Pro,and Polar’s id for the customer, if you have paid. We do not see or store the card.

That is the entire list. There is no record of file names or contents, which pages you visited, how long you stayed, or what you pointed at.

The templates are ranked by what people actually use, and a count only means something if it can tell one person from the same person pressing a button twenty times. That is the whole purpose it serves. It does not change where the render happens, which is still your machine, and everything up to that point — browsing, dropping files in, tuning, scrubbing the preview — asks nothing of you.

The number under each template on the featured pages is how often it has been used, added up across everybody. It is a single total with no dates and no identifiers in it, and there is no way to work backwards from it to a person. Nothing else you do is public.

Suggestions are readable only by us. Not even the person who wrote one can read it back.

Two companies stand behind the site. Supabase holds the accounts and the handful of rows described above; Vercel serves the pages and keeps the ordinary server logs any web host keeps. Google is involved only if you choose to sign in with Google, or press play on the walkthrough film. Polar is involved only if you pay: they are the seller, and they hold the payment, the invoice and the tax. Their privacy notice is at polar.sh.

That film is on YouTube, and nothing of theirs is fetched until you ask for it: the player does not exist on the page until the button is pressed, and it is the cookieless host, so a visit that does not watch it is a visit YouTube never hears about.

Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with anyone else. There are no advertising or analytics services on this site to share it with.

What we hold is kept while your account exists. Write to support@letmotion.com and the account goes, taking your email address, the counts and any suggestion you sent with it. Ask instead for a copy of what is held and we will send it.

Your projects are not ours to delete: they are in your browser, and clearing this site’s data removes them.
